Event Tips

1. Always do a test run using the program a few weeks ahead of your event. Try to duplicate the same approach you plan to use at your event. Please don't expect last minute help the day of your event as you are still trying to learn how to use the program. We can't guarantee immediate support in every case. The program is generally easy to use as you will find after doing a practice run.

2. Always distribute paper bet sheets to the bettors for writing their bets before they are submitted for betting. The program can print a bet sheet on the screen where the horses or player/teams are entered or you can make up your own bet sheet.

3. Use one person to receive the bet sheets, hand check the amount due from the bettor, and collect the bets. Have the cashier initial the bet sheet as correct and paid before turning over to the computer entry person.

4. Use a second person to actually enter the bets from the bet sheets. It is a good idea to keep this person away from other distractions while entering the bets. The same person taking cash and entering bets usually doesn't work well.

5. After entering the bets from the bet sheet, you may choose to print a computer receipt which can be returned to the bettor. You can also return the bet sheet itself in lieu of a paper receipt.

6. When the event is complete, enter the winners into the computer. We like to print a sorted list of winners (by amount won) and call them up one by one, saving the big winner until last.

7. Keep in mind that you can run the Paywinners function as often as needed. Paywinners does not alter anything in the bet files. The bets are retained in the computer as they were entered until you decide to clear them.
